Dan Wakeham Steps Up to the Plate
The Brit talks about sponsors, the competition grind, and life off the board

Dapper Dan.
Interview Andrew Winter
step-on (UK)
10.09.06- Dan, what have you been up to since the winter season ended?
I had two months off to relax and then it was back on with the travelling.
I went to Mt. Hood in the USA for 3 weeks in june for some summer riding. I went out there with the British team to train, at the end there was a contest which I placed 1st in.
Then I went to Austria to a product test for all of the British snowboard magazines. I work for a distribution company called seventwenty, I am the team manager for Grenade gloves and Essa clothing, so I had to go out there to sort products out. From there I flew out to Norway to meet up with the Nike ACG team to film for their dvd and now I am home for two weeks before I fly out to Switzerland to coach on the british development selection camp, then I think it is on to New Zealand.
You must be away from home a lot. Do you like the travelling aspect of being a snowboarder?
Yeah, I only get to spend about 3-4 months of the year at home, that doesn’t bother me too much but sometimes I get burned out on the travelling and it can ruin the fun in snowboarding and that makes me just want to go home.

2007 Good Wood Mens Board Test
Transworld
10.09.06- Artec 3.2 156.5
Artec's commitment to the jib universe comes in full force with the 3.2, aimed at the more advanced freestyle rider. Not only is the construction of the board designed for buttery jibs and durability on rails, but it even comes equipped with its own edge file mounted to the stomp pad for detuning on the fly. There was no doubt about its ability as a rail and jib board among our testers, who all really enjoyed it in the park, with the only potential issue being the softness in the nose and tail on bigger kickers.
Company Line
"The Artec 3.2 is the answer to the quest of most jibbers on the hill. With all its special sliding features, it's the ultimate answer to all the obstacles that might turn up in the park."

Slam City Jam’s Results and Surprises
by bk
Skate Daily
8.29.06- By most acounts, it appears that many of professional skateboarding’s heavy hitters had opted not to travel out to Calgary for this year’s relocated Slam City Jam. Noticeably, today’s standard young gun trio of talent including Sheckler, Huston and Rodgers were surely missed. On the vert Bucky, Bob, Jake, CB, and Knoop were also MIA. For whatever reasons, there sure are alot of uncommon names listed in the final results below.
Nonetheless, Greg Lutzka wins for the second time at SCJ in three years and Rob Lorifice, Lacey Baker and Karen Jones win for the first time as professionals. Congratulations!
